At the moment, this site is a of a dumping ground. It was used more when I was teaching than now.
For my professional Web site, see:
I will be moving my professional site here, for a number of reasons about which I'll phlog when I've done it.
For sixteen long years, libertarians have maintained that 9/11 would not have occurred if individuals weren't Unconstitutionally denied their right to protect themselves. Even if there were only one armed individual on each aircraft, they'd stand a good chance of killing a terrorist. The terrorist would be facing an unknown enemy from an unknown direction. Eventually the shooter would bring him down.
"But what if the terrorists had guns??" the Statists shrieked.
"Same solution," we shrugged.
"People would just kill each other and crash the plane anyway!" they moaned.
"No they wouldn't," we replied. "All the evidence shows that more guns lead to less crime."
At which point, Statists usually become apoplectic.
Unfortunately, until 2017-05-31, we had no example to give. Now we do.
